Just say om…

Last night the girls and I were watching a show in which this chair flashed through a scene.

Molly immediately said to me, “Mom, what is it called when people sit like this and close their eyes?”

Me: “Meditation.”

Molly: “Why do people do that?”

Me: “People usually meditate and focus on their breathing to find some calm and to feel centered.”

Molly: “Well, maybe we could get that chair so you can crawl into it and meditate to calm yourself when you get frustrated with me.”

Me: “Good plan, Molly.”

About Chris DeVinney

Me in a nutshell: mom, writer, former lobbyist, wife, volunteer, lover of music and art, massive fan of traveling, and something of a smart ass. A typical INTJ, I quietly observe anyone and anything that comes into my orbit, squirreling away material for future essays. These days I spend my time writing about whatever interests me (both professionally and personally) and trying to strike the balance between taking care of kids/family/house/pets and me. Occasionally I nail it, hang on to it briefly, and then scramble back toward the center when the tipping starts again. I know, it’s a common story.

You should show Molly the scene from “Sleepless in Seattle” where the teo little kids are in one of those chairs. She’d love it!
